Dr. Andreas Hadjigeorgiou is a general practitioner, with a specialization in (International) Human Rights, and an interdisciplinary legal theorist. He has substantial experience handling complex litigation and novel legal issues before both First Instance and Appellate Court(s).

Areas of practice include:

  • Administrative and Constitutional Law
  • Civil Law (particularly personal injury, negligence, and medical negligence)
  • Labour Law (with a focus on unfair dismissals and recognition of contracts of indefinite duration)
  • Family Law (especially in matters of matrimonial property, custody, and parental responsibility)
  • EU Law (notably the recognition of professional qualifications, non-discrimination, employment rights, and EU family rights)
  • International Protection and Asylum
  • (Public) International Law

Andreas holds a double LL.B in Law and International Studies from the University of Surrey (UK), an LL.M in Legal Theory from the University of Vienna (Austria), and a double PhD in (International) Law and (Legal) Philosophy from the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and the University of Groningen (Netherlands). He has also completed all taught components of the Master’s degree in History of Philosophy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).

He began his legal career at the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus, as a lawyer in training, and was called to the Bar in 2020. Since then, he has collaborated with several leading law firms across Cyprus. Before joining Michael Chambers & Co. LLC as a Senior Associate in 2025, Andreas served as a Senior Associate and Head of the Administrative Law Department at his previous firm, where he advised private clients, NGOs, public authorities, and foreign embassies.

He is an active member of the Human Rights Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association since 2020, where he has organized and contributed to several training seminars for Cypriot lawyers.

Alongside his legal practice, Andreas has maintained an active academic career. He has lectured at various universities across Cyprus, teaching subjects such as Human Rights, International Organizations, Public International Law, and Family Law. Since early 2022, he has been an Adjunct/Visiting Lecturer in Human Rights at the University of Cyprus, where he is tasked with delivering professional training on Human Rights to police cadets on behalf of the Police Academy.

Andreas is also a committed legal researcher. He has authored numerous book chapters, academic articles, and blog posts on the Cypriot legal system, Human Rights, and (Public) International Law. He is the co-editor of Conceptual (Re)Constructions of International Law (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2023) and CYSCOLA – The First Cypriot Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (Hippasus, 2022).
